Your dog is in pain

If your dog is in obvious pain, they need help. Whether the pain is explained or unexplained, an emergency vet will perform an examination.

Your dog had an eye injury

Eye injuries are common in pets. If the eye popped out of its socket, pick up your phone and call your vet.

Your dog can’t breathe

Your dog may choke or cough nonstop causing difficulty in breathing. Obstructed breathing requires immediate help.

Your dog is unconscious

If you found your dog unconscious, you may not know what happened but rushing them to the emergency vet will determine if they have a problem with the heart, lungs, or other vital organs.

Your dog can’t stand

Sometimes your dog’s limbs become very weak for several reasons. If they can’t stand the problem may be external on the limbs or internal in the spine. Call your emergency vet for help.

Your dog has repeated vomiting and diarrhea

Vomiting mostly happens together with diarrhea and may indicate an infection, poisoning, or something else. If you also notice a decreased appetite, mention it to the emergency vet. Also, take note of any blood spots in the vomit or stool.

Your dog has difficulty urinating or defecating

If your dog struggles to urinate or defecate they may have a blockage. Get the vet to check them immediately.

Your dog is bleeding continuously

If your dog bleeds continuously for more than 5 minutes or has shorter repeated episodes of bleeding from the eyes, nose, mouth, or rectum, call your vet.
